It was an interesting day at Multi-Mania. For the first time it’s organized over a period of 2 days. Day 1 are only workshops.
Things I kept in the back of my head:
- The hidden gems of Flash Video of Alwyn Wymeersh:
- Motion tracking in After Effects CS4, export it as an FLV video file with embedded cue points which contain the rotation, alpha, positioning, or the constraints of an object in the video.
- Using it in combination with the distortion class of Sandy3D, you can now use a a video of “Time Square” in New York, replacing all billboards with animated movieclips. While keeping track of the viewing angle of the FLV video.
- For the mobile workshop with Thomas Joos:
- PNG Crush & PNG out, removes 50% off your total PNG file size. Perfect for Flash Lite Mobile applications.
- local vars you should equal afterwards to NULL, global vars you can destroy with delete.
- Sometimes you should load your design assets externally, but not from the net, just package them in your installer file, and load them locally from the phones local file system.
- in 2 months from now, (July ‘09) the flash lite mobile development book will be released. Written by Thomas Joos, Scott Janousek, etc.
- Also in July the bTween framework will be released. For people who don’t know this framework of Barefoot, it was used to port the Flash Lite Werchter Rock festival application to the iPhone.
- Workflows in CS4
- Fireworks CS4is clearly being pushed hard by Adobe to let designers use it more frequently for making mashups for the customer etc.
- Has a better JPG renderer engine then Photoshop! Saving jpg’s in Fireworks is 3x more efficient then in photoshop. 3x smaller!
- a new service of Adobe, “InContext Editing“! Very nice, forget complicated expensive CMS systems for small 10 page websites. Use this new beta Adobe service and edit any website in context! Sooo easy and fast!
- Share my screen from Acrobat is implemented in almost all the CS4 software now…free for up till 3 people sharing their screen at the same time. If you want more, start paying.
- a new technology from Premiere, where all captions, and text are recognized in a video and plotted as written text and cuepoints. Which allows you to search on words and on which positions they have been used in the video. Very cool for movies with durations of over 2 hours ;)
